What I’ve Decided To Do With My Writing

The evolution of my writing journey and why I am changing it up (And why you should too).

I’m a writer, through and through. I started with a love for poetry, ventured into short stories, and my career took me to informational articles regarding technology and social media.

I can sit and write in my Field Notes for hours and not sweat it.

I see these writers (especially here on Medium) crank out 3–4 posts a day. I kept getting more and more frustrated to the point where I had AI write me blog posts for a couple weeks (I will get more into that later). How can you write good content so fast? Why are these writers getting thousands of views when mine only get 3.

Here is what I decided

  • I will no longer write about topics I am not passionate about: I found myself writing blog posts (or having AI write them) about popular topics even if I hated it or didn't have an actual opinion on.
  • I don’t need to stick to a single topic/idea: We have this weird notion that we must find a single topic or genre and stick to it…forever. This is a lie. I am a writer with multiple interests and you as the reader more than likely have multiple interests as well.
  • I will work at my own pace: I know I wouldn’t be able to write quality content if I pushed 3 articles a day. As I write more and more I can push a schedule more for myself then my readers.
  • I need to read more: You can’t write if you don’t read. Plain and simple. I won’t be reading topic specific books or articles but I will be reading what I think is interesting, fiction and non-fiction.

I would love to hear of your experiences with your writing. All tips are welcome!
