Welcome to the world of digital marketing! SEO isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the GPS for businesses navigating the online jungle (Siri, Play ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ by Guns N’ Roses). And guess what? In 2024, SEO isn’t sitting still; It’s developing quicker than I’ve ever seen!

I will be discussing the following topics in detail: Voice Search Optimization, used to optimize online content for voice search queries; Artificial Intelligence, which is changing the way we interact with technology; and Technical Search Engine Optimization, which consists of a set of best practices that businesses can implement to improve their website’s ranking. Let’s dive into it!

Voice Search Optimization

It is crucial to ensure your content is optimized for consumers’ search terms when speaking.

This is because roughly 50% of users now use voice search, which is expected to increase as 2024 approaches.

Think about how you search for products and information. Ask yourself how you would search for your product and implement that terminology. Don’t overcomplicate; make it sound human.

Local SEO

When people search for products, services, or information, they often use location-specific keywords, such as “best coffee shop Portland” or “Dutch Bros Near Me.”

Local SEO helps your business to be discovered by potential consumers who are searching for products or services you provide in your area.

If you have services like local in-store pick-up and in-person experiences (like an Airbnb or camping), this process should be at the top of your SEO list!

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

I know we are all tired of hearing about AI, but in this case, it will help! As of 2023, Google uses machine learning and AI to understand consumer search queries better and provide more accurate search results. This makes AI SEO an important trend for the coming year.

So keep making high-quality content, but I recommend adding content with how-to lists or steps (AEO) because Google will pick that up! If I search “How to ride a bike,” Google is using machine learning technology to scan through highly reviewed, utilized, and easy-to-read content and recommend it to me.

Technical SEO

This is not going away; in fact, it’s becoming a more critical piece of the SEO puzzle. Page speed, Re-directs, and core vitals are the keys to understanding this.

Terms to know and understand when it comes to Core Vitals: LCP (largest contentful paint), FID (first input delay), INP (interaction to next paint), and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift).

Technical SEO is important because user experience matters! If you have fast-loading pages and zero glitches, that will (over time) increase customer engagement, and inherently, it encourages visitors to spend more time looking at your content.

Video SEO

It’s no secret that we have short attention spans; we spend hours scrolling TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. We share videos like crazy! So, it’s safe to say your customers are too.

Spend time Optimizing video titles, writing concise captions, and creating high-quality content. Your next video might go viral, so make it good!
